When Nyhavna Disappears

  • Når Nyhavna Blir Borte

At Nyhavna in Trondheim, there are more than 300 different cultural actors who make up the heart of the city’s vibrant cultural scene. In what is one of the world’s best-preserved industrial areas from World War II, artistic and musical experiences are created that resonate with people across the globe. This is now at risk of disappearing.

When Nyhavna Disappears is a documentary and exhibition project directed by Carl Christian Lein Størmer, in collaboration with Rockheim. Through 12 different portraits, the documentary offers a unique insight into the artists’ lives and work, their motivations and challenges, and invites the audience behind the scenes. Contributors include, among others, Storm, Morten “Diesel” Dahl, Barren Womb, Mathias Angelhus, Black Moon Circle, Erlend Leirdal, and Cirka Teater.

As audience members, we are used to seeing the finished results performed on stages, in galleries, record shops, and at festivals. But what happens where the product is created, rehearsed, and refined? When Nyhavna Disappears takes you behind the doors to the places where the magic happens.

The project was made with support from the Arts Council Norway, Dora Eiendom, and the Torstein Erbo Gift Fund.
