Bill Bruford (University of Surrey) has stepped back from his 41-year career as a band-leader, composer and performer to investigate creative music performance, with a particular focus on the drummer. In his previous life as a performer he collaborated with artists as diverse as Yes, the World Drummers Ensemble, King Crimson, The New Percussion Group of Amsterdam, Ralph Towner, Django Bates, Tim Garland, the Buddy Rich Oechestra and the late Allan Holdsworth. Bruford  has given lectures and seminars at multiple European and North American Universities. In 2017 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the group Yes.
